Discuss what is seen?
This trailer shows the backstage antic's of the band Green Day. Including in between shows and whilst on tour, with interviews between the band and the crew. I'm going to try and include all of these things in my own film.As well as footage from performances.

How has the director made this mean something?
The director wanted to make sure that Green Day fans can see exactly what goes on with the band whilst they are on tour, as this is an inside look that they don't usually get. As the band i'm making a documentary on are not particularly popular, mine will revolve around band practices and first performances, as well as setting up.

What it means to us
The director wants to keep the audience interested throughout the entire film therefore it's important that they capture important aspects of the film throughout the trailer. For example watching the trailer it's evident that the parts people are most interested in is facts and stories behind the performances and the performances themselves, therefore the trailer should build up with both of these things. My trailer is going to include these as people will see an amateur band trying to start out.

What is shown to us on the screen and the sound with it
As throughout the trailer were shown performances from the band Green Day, it;s only fitting that green day music is included throughout. If you listen closely when the band is performing the music is loud, and when the trailer skips to backstage it's quieter, this is what i'm going to attempt to recreate in my own trailer.

Mise En Scene
The Mise En Scene throughout fits in with the type of band Green Day is (grungy rock) therefore the costumes they wear include a lot of black and makeup around the eyes, the band note to self that I am doing my own documentary on, has the same image therefore it is crucial that the set designs and lighting are quite dim and gloomy to fit the type of band they are.

Extracts from Influential Films- Feedback

How are you going to get across the fact that this is a documentary and not a film?
Throughout the trailer i'm going to have certain title's to remind the audience that the film is factual and based on real life, for example titles such as "follow this one of a kind band around" that way the audience should realize that their is a clear distinction between a film and a documentary.

How long will it take to film this?
The band i'm doing my film on have got a concert on the 16th on December where i'm going to get a majority of my footage, as well as throughout January getting clips of band rehearsals.

What equipment will you need?
A majority of the set design will be provided by the band as they would have their own musical instruments, lights and microphones.

Is this going to cost you any money?
No it wont cost me anything apart from travelling to the destinations where the band are practicing.

Music and Sound Effects

As the band had no pre-recorded music to give me, I had to find copy right free music from somewhere else. One of my peers in my class makes and records music and he had a copy of "smells like teen spirit" which is a song that the band i'm creating a documentary on have sung before so it still fits in with the correct genre.

Target Audience

My Target Audience is going to be quite young, as the members of the band are between the ages of 16-21. Therefore I would say my target audience will be between the ages of 16 and 26. Both genders would be interested in my documentary as the band's music doesn't fit a particular gender. A majority of our target audience will still be in school, and as a majority of the band are also still in school the audience can relate to them. Therefore they probably have quite a laid back lifestyle, and as they are all quite young they probably enjoy going out and socializing in places that is known for it's music. For example gigs, nightclubs and concerts. Obviously for them to be interested in this music documentary they will be interested in music by artists and bands such as Green day and All American Rejects.
